Taking Care of his Floppy Ears
Who can resist floppy dog ears? They’re soft, velvety and lovely to stroke. But they’re also prone to infection. Learn what to watch for and how to prevent and treat potential problems.
We love dogs like Labs, beagles and pit bull terriers in part because of their ultra-velvety floppy ears. But sometimes being cute has a price. Dogs with floppy ears are at risk of developing infections that, if left untreated, can become extremely painful and cause aural hematoma or even a systemic infection. Luckily, various holistic treatment options and preventive measures can help ensure those soft floppy ears don’t cause your pooch any grief.

Call for RAGofAZ Facebook Administrator

What’s it take to be an Administrator? Someone who has worked with Facebook and is Social-Media savvy. Someone who has the time each and every day to format and post new articles, news and information.
The Administrator will maintain and update our Facebook presence as if he or she is the Rescue itself that has come to life. The skills required to excel are not complex. We need a person who naturally gravitates to social media out of sheer curiosity, a craving for ingenuity, an interest in emerging technology, and, perhaps most important, an interest in connecting with and helping others online. The words and images posted on our Facebook page will be a direct reflection of Rescue a Golden of Arizona.

Dogs in Your Kitchen?

Minty Fresh Dog Treats
Dog treats alone will not ensure good dental health.
If your dog still has bad breath (despite regular and preventative dental care/check-ups), this Minty Fresh Dog Treat recipe might help!
Coconut Oil Minty Fresh Treats
1 cup brown rice flour
2 tablespoons peanut butter (xylitol-free)
1/2 cup rolled oats
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
1/4 cup fresh mint, finely chopped
1/2 cup water
Preheat oven to 375˚ F. Combine all ingredients.
Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to approximately one-half-inch thickness. Cut into shapes with a knife, small shot glass or your favorite cookie cutter.
Place on cookie sheets and bake for approximately 20 minutes until golden brown.
Four Reasons You Shouldn't Let Your Dog Lick Your Face
and Two Reasons You Should
You’ve just come home after a long day at the office to find that special lady who’s always happy to see you, and she’s practically jumping out of her skin with excitement because you’re home. Her tail’s wagging, her body’s wiggling, and her tongue’s flapping. This is love! And with love comes a slurp on the face.
If it looks, feels, and smells like love, a dog kiss has gotta be a good thing, right? Well, let’s keep in mind that dogs lead very different lifestyles. They don’t brush their teeth or see a dentist. They’ve never touched mouthwash or enjoyed a breath mint. But despite having a different approach to hygiene, your dog’s smooched your face hundreds of times. Can there really be any harm in it?
Though nearly everyone survives a dog kiss, there are a few health issues you might consider the next time your dog comes at you tongue blazing.
