It has certainly been quite the last few months as we are still experiencing a shortage of Goldens needing our help. We did have a wonderful Annual Meeting in October and I want to welcome our two new Board members, Stephanie Valley, Vice President and JR Stanfield, Director of Information Technology. I thank both of them for volunteering to be members of our Board and look forward to working with them throughout the coming year.
Our Holiday Gift Wrap is in progress at Barnes & Noble. This holiday fundraiser has always been fruitful in donations and we ask all of you to help whenever you can. The dogs enjoy meeting the people and their appearance certainly helps to fill the donation jar. It seems the more dogs we have, the more money we get. Please contact the following coordinators and let them know you will help: Diane Nevius and Cathy Sloan at Happy Valley, Becky Buck-Wetzel at Arrowhead, Chris Brant at Scottsdale, and Susan Quisenberry at Dana Park Village. Their contact information can be found on our web site in the article “Come and Join the Fun this Holiday Season."

Calming Games for a Hyperactive Dog
Over-excitement can be a problem if you can’t get your hyperactive dog to settle down. These 3 games help by rewarding relaxed behavior. Identifying a hyperactive dog is pretty easy. He wiggles around a lot, is easily distracted and has a really hard time settling down even in quiet environments. Some hyper dogs become so excited they’ll drool, pant, whine and bark, especially in new situations. Basically, these dogs seem to have unlimited energy.
Why do I have to wait so long to adopt a dog?

The real problem with Wheat
People and animals have been eating wheat for thousands of years, so why has it started causing health issues in so many? The answer may shock you.
Wheat has been a staple grain for centuries. It forms the basis for a large number of foods eaten by both people and animals. Yet it’s only relatively recently that we and our companion animals have started suffering from health problems caused by ingesting wheat. Why did this grain suddenly become the villain of the food pyramid, given its long history in the diets of both humans and dogs?
To God, from the Dog...
1. I will not eat the cats' food before they eat it or after they throw it up.
2. I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc. just because I like the way they smell.
3. The litter box is not a cookie jar.
4. The sofa is not a ”face towel.”
5. The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff.
6. I will not play tug-of-war with Dad's underwear when he's on the toilet.
7. Sticking my nose into someone's crotch is an unacceptable way of saying "hello."
8. I don't need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm under the coffee table.
