This will be my last Golden Tales as I will be stepping down as President in a couple of weeks. I hope that one or two of the articles over the past two years have been useful for you and have kept you up to date with what has been going on. Thank you for your support. I will remain involved with this great organization and look forward to visiting with you in the near future.
We are also following up our monthly social gathering Wag-N-Tales at Richardson’s on October 27th and again on November 17th. The first get together in September was a success so let’s continue to build on that (see below). The Annual Christmas Party will be held at Richardson’s on December 9th. Finally, we will shortly be asking for you to join in the fun and volunteer at the various Holiday Gift Wrap locations around the Valley.
I wish you and your four legged companions good health and happiness.

Vet Care Tip of the Month: Parvovirus
By now most of you know the outcome; through a herculean effort of the team of veterinarians and RAGofAZ volunteers there are now five healthy two-year-old Goldens out there in forever homes.
"Old Age is not a Disease"
Being old doesn’t mean you should hurt all the time. Being old shouldn't imply that you can't get up or move in relative comfort. Being old doesn’t mean loose stool or periodic episodes of vomiting. We would be very concerned if we saw these symptoms in a young animal! Why do we ignore them in an old one?
As a veterinarian, it is my job to help educate owners to best support their geriatric pet friends. To this end, I'd like to share three lessons I've learned: pain is not normal, attitude matters, and food matters. I'll finish up with my takeaways for elderly pet care.
