Thank you for making our 2015 Annual Fundraising Campaign such a success!

Your commitment to Rescue A Golden of Arizona means that Golden Retrievers in need will be given a second chance at the kind of life they deserve. Because of your support, we can offer medical care, life-saving surgery, and the promise of a loving “forever” home . . . to the frightened shelter dog, the pup with Parvovirus, the ailing senior dog, and the beloved pet whose owner can no longer care for him. You are helping to ensure that no Golden will ever have to know the feeling of being “nothing special.”
Thank you. You are forever special because you care enough to give the gift of rescue.

A Note from the Calendar Committee

Rescue a Golden of Arizona is dedicated to the rescue and rehoming of Golden Retrievers in need of a forever home. From time to time, RAGofAZ will bring in a young pregnant Golden Retriever. We take in these Goldens, place them in a foster home until the puppies are born, and the puppies are old enough to be adopted out. These are occasionally half Golden and do not look like Golden Retrievers, but are still considered 100% RAGofAZ dogs. In honor of these beautiful pups, we have a new page in the 2016 Calendar to celebrate these RAGofAZ Goldens. We have named this new feature page "Who''s Your Daddy??" In the next few weeks, we will be asking for photographs of these special dogs whose father was likely a "tall dark stranger." Won't you share their stories and photos and, for a small donation, have your unique RAGofAZ dog on this page?

Canine Flu Update

The CDC advises that treatment for canine influenza largely consists of supportive care that assists the dog in mounting an effective immune response. For dogs experiencing a more mild form of influenza, this may include medication to make the animal feel more comfortable, as well as fluids to ensure proper hydration.

The Emotional Loop that Bonds You and your Dog
By Gary Kane

Your Bichon Frise leaps into your lap, settles in, and gazes adoringly into your eyes. He seems blissfully content. You cannot help but smile at him.
This feel-good interaction between you and your Bichon might begin with that gaze and point to a powerful biological mechanism that fuels the loving bond between man and dog, according to a report in the journal Science.

Are You Prepared?
By Scottie McGowan

The downside of this pleasure is that the new growth of Buffel grass and other assorted weeds are destined to die in the summer sun and become fuel for fires throughout the state.
We’ve all seen with Hurricane Katrina, last year’s wildfires, and monsoon floods what can unexpectedly happen, especially with pets, when disaster strikes and we are not prepared.
It’s time to plan for whatever contingency may occur. Click here to read and print the attached document, EVACUATION PREPAREDNESS, to assist you with your personal planning. Better safe than sorry. Hoping everyone has a safe and fun summer.
